Balaam and his blessing?

In the Narrative of Numbers we find a couple really interesting characters and amazing stories. The people of God in one story we find them faithful and doing well, more often we see their struggles, their battle to remain faithful. All the while we see God and him remaining faithful as he brings this nation to the promise land and fulfill a promise made long before.

Genesis 12:2-3 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Now around 500 years later we see a people, the seed of Abraham, now a nation. Now this young nation on the verge, finally after 40 years, of entering the promise land. But there is another character we get introduced to and an interesting story and a test for God’s people. 

We today undergo the same testing.
