Kingdom Come

In this season we celebrate the birth of Jesus. We sing songs telling of this glorious event. Carols, plays, and movies, there is a lot that has been produced to tell the story of when our Lord was born. For the Jews that lived in that time when Jesus was born they were anticipating a Messiah to come, a king that would restore the kingdom of God on earth. The Messiah was born. The king had arrived, and though all that was spoken of him in the prophets was fulfilled, the Messiah that Jesus turned out to be was quite unexpected. 

Anticipation of the Messiah 

In Luke’s telling of the gospel he includes a story of two people that were anticipating the coming of the Messiah in their lifetime.
