Life Under the King
Life under the King, Lordship. We looked at a key verse last week where Jesus lays out an expectation that we see in Luke 9. That is anyone who wants to follow him must deny themselves and carry their cross daily. In examining this scripture we learn a very important principle that we can apply to our daily walk that has a profound impact on our lives and the lives of those around us. I call it the art of dying.
We learn this great lesson from Jesus himself. He models for us in so many ways what it means to deny yourself. He demonstrates it time and again. We as his followers, called to imitate him, must walk as he did. (1 John 2:6) When we do the world around us takes notice. This is the real power to effect change, not only in us but in the very world we live in. This is how we truly bring kingdom.
When disciples of Jesus actually live like him, the real beauty of kingdom manifests. When we fail to do this. When our lives are all about us and we fall short on this one thing, then christianity falls on its face and we lose. Like the second part of the verse we looked at last week, if any one saves their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will inherit eternal life.
