Look & Live
Life in the wilderness was hard for the Israelites. Hunger, thirst, exhaustion, and uncertainty weighed heavily on them. They had seen God’s power in delivering them from Egypt, yet time and again they grumbled, doubted, and turned away from Him. In Numbers 21:4-9, we read of one such instance when the people spoke against God and Moses, leading to a severe consequence—venomous serpents sent among them. Yet, God, in His mercy, provided a way of salvation: a bronze serpent lifted up on a pole.
In John 3:14-15, Jesus uses this Old Testament event to explain His own mission—to be lifted up so that all who believe in Him may have eternal life. This lesson explores the deep connection between these passages and how they shape our understanding of faith, obedience, and the struggles we face in life.
